Register for Radboud Intro 

• The Radboud Intro will start off in the sports hall of the Gymnasion. 
  You can collect your participant's wristband and the Radboud hoodie.

Depending on your programme today the it is time to get to know your fellow students and mentors. Whether you are a bit nervous or just simply excited, your mentors will be your guides during the orientation and will help you with all your questions. You will also play some fun games and ice-breakers to get to know each other.

Your mentors will let you know the exact time and location to meet.

Meet your mentor group 

Intro market (10.00 - 13.00)

During the Intro market, you get to meet all the different associations Radboud University has to offer.

You can check out more than 170 associations, such as music groups and sports teams, and study associations present themselves. Joining an association can be a great way to get in touch with Dutch students.

 Don’t forget to check out the booths of  Meet  & Eat, ISW and ESN Nijmegen. 

Picking up your rental bikes from  Student Mobility (10.00 - 13.00 ) 

You will also have the opportunity to pick up your rental bike on campus if you have reserved it in time. Pick-up will be in shifts - info can be found in the app

If you have not reserved it yet, we strongly recommend getting a bike today, since biking is the easiest way to get around town. Together with your mentor group, you will stick to a schedule. If you want to buy a bike there are several bike shops in town we recommend, but stock is limited.

Biking lessons: The basics of biking (10.00- 13.00) to be confirmed

For students who feel like they would like to learn more about the basics of biking in the Netherlands, there are introductory bike lessons. Mentors will guide you to the place you need to go. If you are unsure whether you want to ride a bike and just want to try one before you decide, some RU bikes will be provided.

Burger Dinner (from 17:30) 

In shifts you will enjoy a lovely  (vegetarian) hamburger meal at one of the most popular streets of Nijmegen at one of the nice squares at Sjors and Sjimmies. 

Lecture Studying @ Radboud University (11:00 - 12:15) - Grotius building,  room 0.100

During this lecture you will get an introduction to what you can expect when studying in an international classroom and get acquainted with studying in the Netherlands and at Radboud University. Important general information will also be discussed: about VISA, the municipality and more.

Lunch and Campus walk (12.00 - 15.00)

Where do you need to go? Today, your mentors will show you around campus and you will discover all the places you need to know and also some of their own favourite spots. During the campus walk you will also be able to already earns some points for the city game later on in the week. :)

Introduction to Nijmegen Student Life and more (14:00 - 16:00) - Mercatorpad, room CC 1

In the afternoon student associations will present themselves (e.g. ESN Nijmegen, Meet & Eat and Radboud Green Office) and you will get your first introduction to the Dutch language!

Street Food festival on campus (17:00 - 19:30)

On the Erasmusplein, at the Refter, you will be offered a nice meal. One drink is included, so you will have to pay if you want more drinks. 

After dinner: Group picture time!

Wellbeing activity  (20.00-21.30) to be confirmed

Location: Theatre hall C.

City Game (12:00 - 16:00)

Today you get the opportunity to explore the city together with your mentor group. By playing fun games and completing challenges you can win points for your group while getting to know your new home town. You also get to visit the WOII information centre. The mentor group that completes the most activities and challenges will be the winner of the City Game and win a great prize! 

 
Dinner at de Waagh (17:00 - 20:00)

To close off the city day, we will have a delicious buffet dinner at the Waagh, one of the oldest buildings of Nijmegen located in the middle of the city centre. Here, you have time to catch up on everything that you discovered about your new home town in the city today! We will also announce the winners of the City Game, so do not miss out on this activity!

 Explore Nijmegen City at night (20:00 - 23:00) 

Tonight you can join a pub quiz, dance lessons, music bingo  and/or go to see a live band. All activities have limited access, so discuss in time with your group which activity you want to join! Or plan some other fun activity with your group yourselves.

Optional ESN Nijmegen Intro Week party (23.30 - late) 

 ESN Nijmegen will organise a party for all new international students this evening. Capacity is limited so be on time!   

Sports Day 11.00 - 15.00 

During the Sports Day, you'll get the chance to explore the different sports the Radboud Sports Centre has to offer!

Disco Bowling (20:30 - 23:00) 

After an intense day of sports and games, we are  going Disco Bowling! During this fantastic event, you have the chance to show off your bowling skills while dancing to your favourite hits. Never been bowling before? It is really easy to learn! Will you be our new bowling champion?!

Dutch games  (13:00 - 16:00) to be confirmed

Join us in the garden of the Student Chaplaincy to play Dutch games or just get to know the students from other mentor groups. The Dutch have a large selection of traditional games which will ensure you have a fun time. Also an activity with limited availability (also depending on the weather) so register in time if you want to join.

Introfestival

The Introfestival is the last activity of the Orientation, where you can listen to music, play fun games and enjoy drinks. You don't want to miss this amazing festival! Your wristband gives you one-time access to the site. It is not possible to return after leaving the site. More info regarding the festival such as the line-up will be communicated in due course.

International Corner (15.00-17.00)

Did you already have a great time during the Intro, and are you looking to meet other (international) students not part of your mentor group? Then make sure to join our speed friending sessions, or play some ice breaker games to meet likeminded students! And after a busy week full of Intro activities, you may just want to get your creative juices flowing by painting a small wooden clog? It is so much fun and you get a nice hand-made souvenir too! 

You can also write a postcard to one of your loved ones. The first 100 will also be provided with a stamp!

Library tour (13.45 - 17.00)

This afternoon we will show you how the system in the central library works. In shifts you will get a tour. Check out the app for to register for one of the shifts.

ESN Nijmegen will also be there to sell membership cards.

New Master’s students are also welcomed by the faculty at the Master’s Welcome Day. You will get to know your programme and the campus facilities and you'll be given practical information, for example about your study programme.

Some faculties also invite the Pre-Master's students to join in.

Once you have enrolled in your Master’s programme (and sometimes Pre-Master's programme), you should receive an invitation to the Master’s Welcome Day by 1 August at the latest. If you have not received an invite, please contact your faculty coordinator whether you are also able to join the activity.
