From Fast to Forever Fashion
Need a final push to quit your fast fashion addiction? At the ReFashion Event, you will learn to look at your clothing and consumption behaviour in a different way and – very practically – how to repair a hole or put a new button on your favourite blouse. Care & Repair is the main theme. You can also swap your clothes with your fellow students throughout the day.
Clothing swap: 12 - 5 p.m.
Bring in your own clothes and go home happy with “new” items to complete your capsule wardrobe.
How does the clothing swap work?
- Select up to five items from your own collection that are still in good enough condition for someone else to wear.
- Wash them and put them in a bag. Add a note with your name and e-mail address in the bag.
- Between 24 November and 5 December, drop off your bag at the blue container in the Erasmus building (turn right after the main entrance, continue until you see a side room on the left, and there you will find the container) or the Huygens building (central hall). Scan the QR code on the container and fill in your details on the form.
- You will receive a voucher via e-mail. The number of credits for “new” items on 8 December will be equal to the number you have handed in.
You can also hand in your clothes at the event itself, but we prefer you to do so in advance so that we can present everything neatly in the Refter.
Repair Workshops
This is your chance to finally get some sewing skills. In different (free) sessions, you will learn how to make small repairs and alterations to your own clothes. From sewing on a button to taking in the waist of a shirt. You can ask our experts any questions you may have.
Drop-in programme: 12 - 5 p.m.
- Colour analysis: which colours work for you?
- Styling advice: how to wear your pre-loved items.
- Upcycle stand: pimp and reuse your clothes
- Education corner on Care & Repair: with our partners from Artez and Dar.
- Snacks and drinks
Your Washing Behaviour
Researcher Caroline Couch from the Care & Repair project (ArtEZ University of the Arts and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, AUAS) will be present in the Refter to encourage students to view fashion differently: not as something that ends with purchase, but as an ongoing relationship of care and repair. Care & Repair investigates how our daily clothing care habits can influence the circular design of the future. Comeby for practical tips on clothing care and to share how you take care of your favourite clothes.
Care & Repair is part of NewTexEco, in which ArtEZ, HvA, Saxion and partners are working together on a circular textile future.
Photography and videography
During the event in the Refter, photographs and videos will be taken for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be recognizable in the images, you can discuss this with the photographer and videographer on site.
