Inclusive Writing Support: How Can You Help Students with ADHD?
Writing a major paper – such as a bachelor’s or master’s thesis – can be tough and stressful for almost every student. But for students with ADHD, this process often brings extra challenges. Planning, maintaining focus, perfectionism, and fear of failure can all get in the way. So how can you best support these students? What really helps – and what doesn’t – when you want to take their neurodivergent ways of thinking and working into account?
Program
- Elke Schrijen (study trainer at Student Support) kicks off with an overview of the main challenges students with ADHD face during their studies.
- Griet Coupé (coordinator at Radboud Writing Lab) then explores how these challenges show up in the writing process. What writing problems do students with ADHD experience, and how can supervisors respond effectively?
- Jochem Kruit (student and writing coach at Radboud Writing Lab) shares his personal story and reflects on how ADHD has shaped his studies and thesis process.
- We’ll wrap up with a discussion and Q&A.
