Ever dreamt of being the Diamond of the Season attending a Bridgerton ball? As part of History Month, the Erasmus hall will be transformed into a royal ballroom and history will be brought to life by the court dancers of Les Précieuses Ridicules.
White wigs, billowing coats, sparkling ball gowns... The nobility of the past had wealth beyond measure and wanted everyone to know it. But wealth, and especially beauty, could be fake. Believe it or not, fillers are not a modern invention!
We all know the swoon scenes in Pride and Prejudice and the glittery dresses in Bridgerton, but what is real and what is fake? Watch the court dancers as they perform in period costume and teach you all about the etiquettes and dances of a real ball from the Regency era.
Prefer not to dance yourself? No worries, wallflowers are just as welcome!
There will be tea
And whether you're a wallflower, a thirsty dancer or just a casual spectator, a cup of tea is a must at any ball! Study association T.E.A. (The English Association, formerly GAG) will be ready to serve a free cup of English tea and a British snack in style!
So whip open your silk fan, sip your cuppa, and whisper the latest gossip about Penelope and Colin.
