Many children and young people spend a large part of their time on social media. Every day, they are exposed to dozens or even hundreds of images. Much of their social interaction also takes place via digital media. What impact does this have on their social lives? Social scientist Thirsa Stolk is researching how young people use digital media and the effect this has on their social development. She talks about the risks of digital media, but also about the positive aspects: for example, Stolk and her colleagues discovered that stories in films (or short videos) can inspire you to behave just as well as the characters in those stories.Participation is free. About the speakers
Thirsa Stolk is a PhD candidate at the Behavioural Science Institute at Radboud University. She is conducting research into how adolescents spend their (online) time.
