Working method during the course
The course consists of three meetings of three hours, each preceded by preparatory work. You follow the courses parallel to teaching your workgroup. The first two meetings will prepare you for teaching. The third meeting will allow you to reflect on your teaching.
During these meetings there is ample room for discussions, trying out didactic strategies, and exchanging teaching experience.
The course is in English.
Certificate of attendance
Teachers who have attended all meetings and completed the assignments will receive a certificate of attendance. In order to receive the Certificate of attendance, active participation is required for 2 of the 3 meetings of the course.
The total workload is about 14 hours. Three meetings of 3 hours each, one hour of preparation time per meeting, and a maximum of 2 hours for peer observation. The first two meetings are usually scheduled in the same week, prior to a new block. The third meeting is scheduled a month later, to reflect on your initial teaching experiences.
Edubadge
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate and an Edubadge. An Edubadge is a digital certificate which shows that the owner has acquired certain skills or knowledge. Radboud University is participating in a nationwide project to establish training and accreditation for students in education. The StuKO project aims to contribute to the professionalization of student teachers, leading to a Student Qualification in Education, abbreviated as StuKO. By successfully completing the Starting to Teach course, you can obtain this Edubadge.
