You are very welcome to join us on September 30 for the launch of the multilingual Zine Library at Radboud University in the Exhibition Space near the coffe corner. The library includes zines in multiple languages (including Spanish, English, French, Dutch, and others) and multilingual editions, engaging with themes such as arts-based practices, memory, archiving, nature, social justice, activism, and how-to editions (how to make zines, how to archive them, etc.). We will talk about the project and how the library will be accessible for all students and faculty members across the university.
OPEN CALL: Following the launch, we invite you to participate in an open zine-making workshop on the theme Language(s). Drawing inspiration from the library’s multilingual collection, participants are invited to reflect on languages in their broadest sense: spoken, written, visual, embodied, translated, remembered, suppressed, imagined, and more.
All materials will be provided. No previous experience is needed; just come as you are.
The zines created during the workshop will become part of a temporary collective exhibition in the library’s exhibition space. This is voluntary and we hope no one feels pressured to share their creations.
If you decide to join us for the workshop then let's make zines together! Fanzines are small-scale, self-published, often handmade booklets that can combine text, collage, poetry, painting, etc. We want to make this a safe space where everyone can come to co-create together and you are more than welcome to explore all the different zines that are part of this library. This instance does not require any previous experience or expertise.
