A song at mealtime, a book before bedtime. These little things may seem small, but they make a world of difference! These moments help children learn language. And that is essential, because language is everywhere.
On March 26, Daycare organisation KION and the Baby & Child Research Center will share their perspective on language together. Myrna Frissen and Suus Sas (pedagogical coaches at KION) will take the audience through a day at daycare. How do pedagogical professionals use language at different moments during the day? And what effect does this have on a child’s language development and socio-emotional development
Professor Paula Fikkert and Dr. Imme Lammertink (researchers at the Baby & Child Research Center) will then explain what we know from science. How do chatting, singing, and reading together influence a child’s language? And how can people create a language-rich environment - at childcare, but also at home?
During this evening, parents will learn, in a nutshell, what KION does to support children’s language development, and what parents themselves can do to help their babbling baby grow into a real storyteller.
