TLC Innovation Lunch: Programmatic testing in Psychology

A pilot for programmatic testing in Psychology

In the Bachelor's programme in Psychology, there is still a strong emphasis on summative final exams. This focus encourages short-term thinking, increases performance pressure and limits the integration of knowledge. In addition, lecturers experience peak workloads due to the many assessment moments, leaving less room for reflection and meaningful feedback.

During the innovation lunch on 1 December, Maartje Zijlmans and Rob Holland will talk about their TLC voucher project, in which they conducted a pilot with programmatic testing within the Personal and Professional Development (PPO) learning pathway. This approach is not about individual tests, but about continuous development: students collect “data points” in a portfolio and reflect on these with peers and mentors.

The pilot investigates how programmatic testing can contribute to self-regulated learning, academic growth and greater coherence within the curriculum. Sign up and come listen, share your ideas and get inspired while enjoying a bowl of soup.
