This case law study focuses on the rulings of the notarial disciplinary court. The study provides clarity on the discernible trends in notarial disciplinary case law, as a result of the amendments to the Notaries Act in 1999 and 2013. This is particularly relevant given that these legislative amendments were aimed at strengthening disciplinary law. The research findings are presented from the various perspectives of the parties involved in the proceedings (the disciplinary court, the complainants and the defendants).

After studying notarial law at Leiden University, Robert Wisse began his career in the notarial profession as a trainee notary. He then went on to work as a legal practitioner at the Royal Notarial Professional Organisation (KNB). Subsequently, disciplinary law played a key role in his role as a legal advisor at BFT, the authority for financial and legal supervision. Disciplinary law also features prominently in his teaching and other activities.
