Who we are and what we want to achieve
Radboud University is an independent institution that has been built up over the past hundred years on the basis of initiative, daring and entrepreneurial spirit. We have a team of highly motivated (international) staff and a solid organisational foundation. In order to realise our ambitions in education, research, collaboration and community building, we are making our organisation more agile and goal-oriented.
In the coming years, we want to work more decisively and transparently, make our digital infrastructure flexible and strengthen our culture of collaboration. In doing so, we will make conscious choices about what we do and do not do, so that the workload for staff remains manageable and the quality of our education and research is guaranteed. This will enable us to respond flexibly and responsibly to trends and be resilient enough to withstand social tensions and financial pressures.
Our goal: We are an agile and resilient university that deals innovatively with changing circumstances and delivers excellent quality education and research. As an attractive employer, we attract (international) talent and know how to retain it. In our ambitious organisation, we encourage ownership, leadership, innovation and initiative: employees take control, bear responsibility and actively seek (new) solutions. We remain committed to our objectives in the area of diversity and inclusion.
What is needed to achieve this
Improved interfaculty collaboration
In order to realise our ambitions in education, research and impact, stronger collaboration is needed between faculties, institutes and external partners. We are developing clear frameworks for interfaculty education and research, and encouraging initiatives and collaborations with parties outside the university. We offer targeted support for joint funding applications and create transparency in the distribution of funding for education and research. In this way, we make optimal use of our academic breadth and increase our social impact.
Future-proof culture and operational model
The financial and social context requires us to be sharp in the way we organise our processes and organisation. That is why we are working on a future-proof Radboud University, with a culture and operational model that reinforce each other. We encourage a culture of ambition, ownership, collaboration and innovation: diverse teams are trusted, take responsibility, hold each other accountable for results and celebrate successes together. At the same time, we are building an organisation that combines simplicity and effectiveness. Clear decision-making levels and improved processes make us more agile and effective. This ongoing professionalisation helps us to set priorities, avoid duplication and concentrate resources where they are most needed. Data-driven management ensures that we make decisions based on facts and can make timely adjustments. In this way, we reduce the pressure on employees and create room for innovation.
Leadership & development programmes
The future demands new skills and offers opportunities for our employees to develop further. We identify in good time which skills will be important in the coming years and translate this into inspiring development programmes for employees and managers. Through strategic personnel planning, leadership training, targeted talent development and programmes such as “Recognition and Appreciation”, we strengthen both personal growth and the collective strength of the university. This ensures that Radboud University will remain a strong and attractive employer in the future.
