Portret van Sven Braster

A bridge between students and faculty

My name is Sven Braster, I am a sociology student, and this academic year I am the student assessor of the Faculty of Social Sciences. In recent years, I have devoted a great deal of energy to the Nijmegen student community, including as a board member of study associations and, for the past two years, as a member of the University Student Council (USR).

My motivation is twofold. On the one hand, I want to contribute to the university and faculty where I enjoy studying; I have experienced that you can genuinely improve things as a student. On the other hand, I see this as a unique opportunity to learn from experienced directors and gain an insight into how an organisation like Radboud University is managed.

This year, I see my role as a bridge between students and faculty. Considering the large variety of students’ experiences, I don’t want to limit myself to a number of set themes. I would rather be a kind of interpreter who brings the multitude of opinions, insights and ideas to the correct people at the correct moments. That way I ensure that the student perspective is fully taken into account in policy and decision-making.

Finally, a request: as assessor, I am there for the students, but I also extend a hand to employees. Would you like to exchange ideas or are you curious about a student’s perspective? Don’t hesitate to contact me via assessor [at] socsci.ru.nl (assessor[at]socsci[dot]ru[dot]nl)
