This adjustment enables the university to align the use of campus buildings more effectively with actual demand and reduce energy and facilities costs. The change in opening hours forms part of the Opening Hours in Line with Usage pilot.
Most buildings closed Friday evenings and weekends
The Huygens Building is not the only one closing earlier – other campus buildings will also close at 6 pm on Fridays from now on. This applies to the Aula, Berchmanianum, Elinor Ostrom Building, Erasmus Building, Grotius Building, Huize Heyendael, Maria Montessori Building, Mercator 1, Villa Oud-Heyendael and the Forum. What does this mean for you?
For most staff members and students in the Huygens Building, little will change. As not all activities fit within the new standard opening hours, there are occasional exceptions. For instance, during examination periods the Library of Science will have extended opening hours to give students sufficient opportunity to study. In addition, the building will remain accessible outside regular opening hours for researchers with an authorised access pass and during open days, conferences and events.
If you have any questions about the adjusted opening hours or the pilot, please contact the Service Centre at servicecentre-cf [at] ru.nl (servicecentre-cf[at]ru[dot]nl).
