Announcing the winner of the RICH Master's Thesis Award

The winner of this year’s RICH Master's Thesis Award is Senne van der Zijden. The award consists of a certificate and a prize of 500 euros. With the award, the Radboud Institute for Culture and History (RICH) aims to honour excellent research-based work by master's students.

Senne van der Zijden is the winner of the RICH Master's Thesis Award 2024. Senne receives the award for the thesis: Beyond the Pale of the Past: Metamodernism and Trauma in the Contemporary Irish Novel.

From the jury report: “Senne’s thesis breaks new ground and contributes directly to theory development in Literary Studies, as well as to research into metamodernism and trauma.” The jury consisted of Marie Limme (winner RICH Master’s Thesis Award 2023) and RICH coordinators Nathalie de Haan and Marguérite Corporaal.

“Sometimes I tend to keep looking at what is yet to come, instead of looking at the things I have already achieved,” says Senne about winning the award. “This award really invited me to take a moment to reflect on the fact that I am very proud of my thesis, and that I am allowed to be.”
