Role models can significantly influence the choices we make in our careers. For example, seeing successful individuals from underrepresented groups thriving in academia can inspire others from these groups to pursue similar paths. In his keynote lecture, Bas Hofstra from the Department of Sociology demonstrated how mentors can help underrepresented groups navigate the challenges of building an academic career. Jeanette Mostert from the Radboud Young Academy emphasized the importance of acknowledging and rewarding role models who enhance our working environment. This sparked a lively podium discussion. The presentations were complemented by a poster session showing how different people from our faculty view role models and their significance.
