Turning off the automatic forward is a measure to improve security in email traffic. By automatically forwarding emails to an external email address, you may (unintentionally) disclose protected, sensitive or confidential data. This is in conflict with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What do you need to do?
If you currently automatically forward your emails to an external email address, it is important that you manually disable this function in your email account before 21 August. This will ensure that you do not miss any new emails sent on or after 21 August. You can adjust this as follows:
- Log in to your email account via outlook.office.com.
- Click on ‘Settings’.
- Select ‘View all Outlook settings’.
- Click on ‘Rules’.
- Delete the rule set up to automatically forward emails.
Protection of @ru-mails
Additionally, only emails complying with specific email standards will be sent from @ru-mail addresses. We are by this means blocking phishing emails and malicious software from being sent from a fake Radboud sender. In most cases, you will not notice the introduction of these measures. There are, however, certain situations where action may be required, i.e. when you have manually set up to send emails via your provider's SMTP service and when you send emails to external mailing lists.
