On 28 September, volume 38 of the book series Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy and Science was presented in the historical library of Artis in Amsterdam. This book series, which was originally established in 2001 as a platform for publishing the research of members of the Center for the History of Philosophy and Science of our faculty, has in the past twenty years grown into a renowned venue for historical work on the overlapping domains of the history of philosophy and the history of science. Volume 38 contains the very first intellectual biography of the famous Renaissance physician, philologist and bibliographer Conrad Gessner, who is above all famous for his books on plants and animals.
