Dutch EdTech Ecosystem

By "ecosystem” we mean the interaction between schools and education professionals, companies and publishers, researchers, intermediaries, investors and public-sector bodies in driving innovation. The quality of these interactions largely determines success. The Netherlands has a strong foundation for educational innovation. At the same time, persistent bottlenecks mean that many promising solutions never proceed past the pilot phase. This is precisely where there is scope to work more purposefully towards sustainable change and impact at scale.

Momentum

Several concurring developments create opportunities for sustainable change: recent indications of structural bottlenecks in the educational resources market, initiatives such as Edu-V and the Entree Federation are laying the foundations for open standards and collaborative systems. Also, the EU AI Act (2024) is tightening the framework for the responsible use of AI in education. The report 'Building a Future-Proof EdTech Ecosystem: Insights and Strategies for Scaling Evidence-Based Innovation in Dutch K-12'  provides insight and practical points of departure.
