This expansion will give students more opportunities to gain work experience alongside their studies that is relevant to their degree programme. Opportunities will include roles at spin-offs, scale-ups – fast-growing companies that have moved beyond the start-up phase –, research projects, and organisations such as municipalities and courts.
Little will change for students. Vacancies with external clients will be advertised in the usual way via Brightspace and the Radboud University website. Students can also sign up to receive a weekly vacancy update by email. For staff, the process will also remain largely unchanged. However, the expansion will give researchers additional opportunities to offer relevant student jobs, for example through their own spin-off or research project.
More opportunities for students and the university
The expansion is the result of a combination of developments. Due to budget cuts, the number of student jobs available within Radboud University is decreasing, while demand for part-time work among students remains high. Vacancies are often filled quickly, and many students struggle to find a suitable job on campus. At the same time, organisations in the region are keen to employ Radboud University students. By also providing payroll services on behalf of external clients, Campus Detachering aims to give students more opportunities to find work that is relevant to their studies.
The expansion also supports the university’s strategic objectives, strengthens the link between education and the labour market, and creates opportunities to generate additional income for Radboud University.
Responsible expansion
Campus Detachering has explored how its services can be expanded into the external market in a responsible and manageable way, without losing sight of its internal services. The expansion will initially run for a period of one year, after which its results will be evaluated.
Campus Detachering is also exploring whether to use a separate trading name for its external activities. Further information will be provided as soon as more details are available.
