Campus Heyendaal zero-emission zone from 1 January 2025

From 1 January 2025, our campus, including Radboudumc and HAN, will be one of the three zero-emission zones for logistics in Nijmegen. That means entrepreneurs and suppliers will only be allowed to enter the campus in emission-free vans or trucks. Zero-emission zones do not apply to passenger cars and cabs, but do apply to (old) mopeds and scooters.

For most students and staff, the environmental zone will have little or no impact. The rules only apply to business vans and trucks.
In doubt about whether you are allowed on campus? Then do the license plate check (kentekencheck). If necessary, you can apply for an exemption or dispensation via RDW/Ontheffing-zero-emissie.

More information about the restrictions for mopeds and scooters in the environmental zone can be found on the website of the municipality of Nijmegen: Milieuzone bromfietsen - Gemeente Nijmegen

Suppliers know

Entrepreneurs who regularly visit the campus have been informed. They know what the meaning of the zero-emission zone is and for most, they can come to campus without any problems. The big national delivery parties are already driving largely zero-emission vehicles and small business owners are getting help from various quarters.

Transitional regime

A transitional regime applies until 2030 in which exceptions and exemptions are possible. The most polluting vehicles will be banned from 2025; by 2030, all vans and trucks must be emission-free.

More information can be found on the website of the municipality of Nijmegen: Zero-emissiezones vanaf 2025.

Mobility and sustainability

Radboud University is happy to cooperate with the introduction of this zero-emission zone because it fits seamlessly with the mobility policy and sustainability ambitions.
