Charlotte Perquin-Deelen is a senior corporate law solicitor at Dirkzwager Legal & Tax and an associate professor at the Van der Heijden Institute, the Centre for Business and Law Research at Radboud University; she is also a cognitive philosopher and ethicist. In her practice, she advises directors and supervisory board members on governance issues, boardroom dynamics, integrity and collaboration in the semi-public sector. She obtained her PhD in 2020 with a multidisciplinary thesis on biases in the boardroom and has since published extensively in leading journals and anthologies.
In addition, she was the initiator and co-editor of the Handboek Semipubliek Ondernemingsrecht (2023), which is now regarded as a standard work in this field of law. The Appointments Advisory Committee for the CPO Visiting Chair describes Perquin-Deelen as an outstanding candidate who combines practical experience, academic depth and teaching expertise in an exceptional and interdisciplinary manner.
Experienced and highly regarded lecturer
Perquin-Deelen has extensive teaching experience, both in undergraduate and postgraduate education. She teaches on Master’s and honours programmes at the Nijmegen Faculty of Law and has been active for some time as a lecturer and senior lecturer at the CPO. Among other things, she has developed courses in the field of semi-public company law and makes a regular contribution to high-quality programmes for legal professionals.
Focus on governance and leadership
The visiting chair focuses on the topical and multidisciplinary theme of governance and leadership. This responds to the growing need in legal practice for in-depth knowledge of, amongst other things, governance structures, boardroom dynamics, ethical leadership and stakeholder management.
In her role as CPO Professor, Perquin-Deelen aims to contribute to the development of high-quality, practice-oriented education for legal professionals and the development of executive education for directors, supervisors and senior lawyers. In addition, she will conduct research into governance issues within regional partnerships.
About the rotating chair
The CPO rotating chair has been affiliated with Radboud University since 1993 and aims to strengthen postgraduate legal education. The chair is periodically filled by leading legal experts from academia and the legal profession. Charlotte Perquin-Deelen succeeds Pauline Ernste, who held the visiting chair from 2023 until 31 March 2026, focused on ‘Dispute resolution in (inter)national legal practice’.
