Clean-up bicycle sheds

In week 16, from 13 to 17 April 2026, there will be another clean-up campaign in the campus bike sheds. Old, broken and abandoned bikes will be removed then, and loose locks attached to racks will be cut loose and cleaned up. Does your bike have a sticker and you don't want to lose it? Pick it up quickly!

Campus & Facilities conducts such clean-ups several times a year.

Warning sticker

The selected bikes are first given a warning sticker so that the owner still has a chance to take the bike. After a while, BikeWerk bicycle workshop staff remove the stickered bikes. This frees up space for other bikes and reduces the risk of theft and vandalism.

Sustainable destination

At BikeWerk, the bicycles are refurbished. People with a distance to the labour market are trained as bicycle mechanics and turn two or three bicycles into one good bicycle. The broken bicycles are put to good use. Through its collaboration with the Leergeld Foundation, BikeWerk can offer these bicycles to children from families who have less to spend.

This year, BikeWerk has already sold 190 refurbished bikes and a third of these (65) came from our campus. Would you also like a sustainably refurbished campus bike? They are for sale for a friendly price at BikeWerk's shop at Ambachtsweg 41 in Nijmegen.
