“We've noticed a growing demand for high-quality coffee,” says Berend Blommers. Reason enough for the founder of the Nijmegen-based coffee roastery to open a second location on the Radboud University campus. Local and handmade: at Blommers, your specialty coffee is freshly made, as are your croissant or cinnamon bun. “We make all the pastries we sell ourselves.”
Coffee Corner moved to Het Gerecht
Blommers' new bar will be just around the corner from the entrance to the Grotius building, at the spot where the Coffee Corner used to be. The Coffee Corner is in turn relocating a bit further, to Het Gerecht, on the other side of the building. So there's no need to worry if you’re addicted to that one particular cappuccino: the coffee will remain exactly the same, as will the prices.
What will change as a consequence are the opening hours of Het Gerecht. So far, Het Gerecht was open during the day, but only at lunchtime for a snack or drink. The arrival of the new coffee machines means you can now get coffee, tea, soft drinks, and snacks from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Between 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m., that offer is complemented by the familiar lunch options.
Bring your own mug
In the mornings and the afternoons, Het Gerecht operates on the self-service principle: you can easily and quickly get your familiar Coffee Corner coffee out of the machine yourself – and pay at the self-scan. Note that the coffee machine does not provide disposable cups (which also means less waste!), so don't forget to bring your own mug. Alternatively, you can purchase a reusable Billy Cup. If you wish to do so, please speak to one of our staff members.
