Column Peter Berentsen: Building Bridges

During the kickstart of the Education day, I quickly felt at home. Even though I am only a student, after the first week as student assessor, I already noticed that there really is a nice atmosphere in our faculty. Something you occasionally forget as a student is that lecturers and other staff are also just people. There is room for questions, mistakes and sociability, making my tasks much easier and more fun!

Let me introduce myself: my name is Peter Berentsen, 22 years old, and I am at the start of my fourth year in the Artificial Intelligence Bachelor's programme. Last year, I served as Chief of Education for the AI Study Association, where I liaised between the association and the programme. I really enjoyed doing this, and hence, it is with great enthusiasm that I start working as a student assessor in the coming year.

One of my focal points is internationalisation. Having lived with two students from Romania for two years, I have learned a lot about the challenges faced by international students and staff. Therefore, this year, among other things, I want to do my bit to create an even friendlier atmosphere for our internationals.
