Dirk Vriens' research focuses on the question of how to organise work – how to design structures – so that organisations (for-profit or non-profit, such as companies, municipalities or healthcare institutions) and networks of organisations can make a responsible and economically meaningful contribution to society. The research examines what exactly such a “responsible and economically meaningful” contribution entails, which organisational and network structures support this and which do not, and how organisations and networks can be encouraged to organise their work differently.
