Doornroosje has been the musical nerve center of Nijmegen since the 1970s. Pop, rock, metal, techno, house, punk, country, there are few musical genres that have not made Doornroosje’s concert halls reverberate. And of course, a good concert needs a good poster. And those posters form a window to the musical past of Nijmegen, and Doornroosje in particular.

Archival material
History students Imke van Dijk, Lies Heijs, Pleun Hendrikx and Pepijn Trienekens dove into the archives under the guidance of cultural historian Thomas Delpeut. Together they selected the most beautiful posters that adorned the walls of Doornroosje about half a century ago. Each poster is accompanied by a piece of music history. So do you like retro? Come and see the old Doornroosje posters and go back in time. Which concerts did the people of Nijmegen go to half a century ago? What can old posters tell us about squatters' movements, international solidarity, drug culture and gay emancipation?
