Education for professionals: innovating for the future

The university has been more than a place for young people who are taking their first steps in science for a long time now. At a time when student numbers are falling and the international intake of students is decreasing, it is more important than ever for Radboud University to actively engage in the field of Lifelong Learning (LLO).

Education for professionals: knowledge that evolves with you

Continuing to study and learn is a core value of the founding fathers of our university. Our Postgraduate Training Centres for Professionals (POPs) have been offering further training, refresher courses and advanced programmes for many decades. While these centres retain their own name and identity, they also work together to strengthen the content and visibility of the educational programmes that are available under the umbrella term ‘Radboud University, Education for Professionals’.

The job market is in need of further training and refresher courses

Technological developments such as AI are rapidly changing professions and demand the constant renewal of knowledge. What's more, due to an ageing population, this need continues to increase. This is a huge opportunity for Radboud University: not only can we use our research to contribute to societal challenges, but we can also serve as an economic and social engine.

Increasing impact through knowledge sharing

Regional companies and institutions are seeking high-quality education for their employees – the university has the expertise and infrastructure to provide this. Collaboration with the corporate sector not only strengthens the interaction between science and practice, but it also stimulates innovation, enhances academic insights and broadens the scope of our knowledge. It also provides a new revenue model in times of financial pressure.

Learning what is really needed

Education for professionals requires a different way of thinking: flexible educational tracks, hybrid learning methods and close collaboration with the professional field are essential. This means that rather than just transmitting information, the university is also paying attention. To the needs of professionals, to the demands of employers and to developments in the region. Our education is moving with the changing world.

Long live learning

Education for professionals is not an optional extension of the initial programme content; it is a fundamental task of a modern university. Radboud University has taken on a pioneering role in this respect. We no longer educate for specific qualifications, but for lifelong learning. Let’s ensure that everyone returns here as critical, flexible and future-oriented lifelong learners.

The university as a lifelong learning environment - that is the future!
