Ellen Maathuis wins Tijn Kortmann award and NTBR publication award

On Thursday 28 November 2024, the Tijn Kortmann award was awarded during the Van der Grinten Lecture. Ellen Maathuis, lecturer and PhD candidate in Private Law, received this award in addition to the NTBR publication award she had earlier received. Maathuis received both awards for the article 'De (gevolgen van de) kwalificatie van circulaire ‘product as a service’-contracten.'

In the literature, the product as a service contract is regularly classified (without further explanation) as a rental agreement or contract for services. In this article, Maathuis examined how the product-as-a-service contract should be qualified and what consequences this qualification entails.

The Tijn Kortmann award

This year, the Stichting Rechtenalumni Nijmegen (SRN) organised the Tijn Kortmann award for publications for the seventh time. This award aims to stimulate and reward excellence among PhD students and junior lecturers at Nijmegen's law faculty. The prize is twofold and is awarded annually for publications in the research area of the Business and Law Research Centre (OO&R) and the Research Centre for State & Law (SteR).

The NTBR publication award

The NTBR publication award is awarded annually by Wolters Kluwer to the author of the best published article in the Dutch Journal of Private Law (NTBR).
