Eveline: Get moving!

Sufficient exercise and relaxation are important for both your physical health and your mental well-being. In addition, more and more scientific research shows that exercise has a positive influence on study and work success and the prevention of absenteeism due to illness. People who are active, feel and perform better.

Eveline works at Radboud University and has a Radboud Sport & Culture membership. In this edition of 'Get moving!' you can read what she likes about this.

“Thanks to the enthusiasm of the RSC instructors, an hour of exercise flies by. A quick shower and before you know it you are back behind your desk with fresh energy.”

“During my student years I became a member of the sports centre so that I could play hockey at Apeliotes. Years later, when I started working at Radboud University, I took out a subscription because of the gym. Back then, I often went to work out for an hour after work. Only after the birth of my children did I discover the ticket hours. I started with 'pregnant & fit' to get back into shape, but soon switched to the 'body workout'. Now, 16 years later, I still go here, alternating with ticket hours 'X-go' and 'barbell workout'.”

Advantages

“I think the big advantage of Radboud Sport & Culture is that it is so close to my workplace. This makes it very easy and accessible for me to go. Occasionally I do this before work, but usually afterwards and on Wednesdays even during. I then start work earlier and exercise during an extended lunch break. Fortunately, my manager is also convinced of the importance of sufficient exercise. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the RSC instructors, an hour of exercise flies by. A quick shower and before you know it you are back behind your desk with fresh energy.”

Goal

“My aim is to exercise for an hour three times a week. I do this because it makes me feel fitter and also because I want to grow old vigorously. This means I exercise for both the short and long term effect. In addition, I just enjoy doing something together with others. I have several friends and colleagues with whom I regularly work out and even try something new every now and then. For example, my colleague and I once took a pole dancing course and I am now trying convince a friend to take the front crawl course with me. I have always wanted to learn that and at the RSC that is possible!”
