Education Award Junior Lecturer 2024: Malte Rӧsner
This year, the jury has awarded the Education Award for Junior Lecturer to Malte Rösner for his exceptional contribution to teaching in the faculty. Malte is a lecturer in the Theory of Condensed Matter department. He was nominated by the Programme Committee, the WiNSt Educational Institute and the Marie Curie Study Association.
Students indicate that Malte is one of the best teachers in the Physics and Astronomy Bachelor's programme. They appreciate his enthusiasm and passion for the subject matter, which makes his lectures inspiring and motivating. His open attitude encourages interaction, questions and discussions, making students feel heard and valued. His lectures receive a grade of 9.
His interactive teaching style and the use of assignments as assessment methods are particularly praised. During the Programming 2 course, he programmes live in class, which students find very educational. He is also commended for the excellent organisation of his courses, including the master's course Numerical Matter.
In addition to his teaching qualities, he contributes to improving education as a member of the Programme Committee and has developed an innovative programming environment with CNCZ, including Jupyter notebooks, JupyterHub and NBGrader, as well as a dedicated course website that is highly rated by students.
