Five years of OnePlanet: innovations from Gelderland with global impact

Five years ago, OnePlanet was launched, an innovation centre in which microchip research centre imec, Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Radboud University and Radboudumc work together. Since that launch in 2019, OnePlanet has grown into a solid organisation in the field of nano- and digital technology in agriculture, food, health and environment. From developing innovations to marketing them, OnePlanet works on the whole spectrum. At every stage of it, it works closely with companies, from the Gelderland's SMEs to national and international industrial partners.

With more than 100 employees, offices in Wageningen and Nijmegen, extensive laboratory facilities and innovative research programmes, OnePlanet has been working on pioneering innovations at the intersection of agriculture, nutrition, health, environment and high-tech for the past 5 years. Those innovations contribute to solving major societal challenges, such as the nitrogen crisis, climate change and the pressure on healthcare. To this end, OnePlanet combines domain expertise with expertise in sensors, sensor connectivity and data science/artificial intelligence into application innovations.

In addition, the thriving OpenEducation programme and cooperation with SMEs in the region have contributed to the centre's success.

To celebrate this milestone, OnePlanet Research Center organised a dynamic afternoon on 3 April 2024 that not only looked back at the results achieved but also looked ahead.
