"I’m going to make full use of the opportunity to network, especially in the field of high-tech interfacing"

Radboud University and Radboudumc collaborate with Alliander, ASMPT, OBS Medical and ASML. But what does working with AI professionals with up to five years of practical experience bring? At the Radboud AI Event Collaboration for Sustainable Growth on 13 February 2025, you’ll find a marketplace full of start-ups. Steven Bronsveld, founder of Bronscode, will explain in detail how valuable collaborating with a start-up can be.

"My oldest employee is 30 years old. I’m 25 myself," says Steven Bronsveld. Proudly, he introduces his five colleagues. "Yes, it’s a young team. At Bronscode, we all have academic backgrounds in mathematics, computer science, physics, and philosophy, and we each have about five years of practical experience. I prefer to be honest about who we are rather than pretending to be bigger than we are. So far, I haven’t had the impression that potential clients doubt our abilities. We have contracts running until 2032, which shows that we’re taken seriously."

Bronscode develops applications for businesses to make processes faster and more flexible. Bronsveld explains: "After my final exams, I had a long break before my studies started in September. During that time, I actively looked for a client because I was already heavily involved in programming and coding. My first client was Q-highschool. I designed an application for them to make education more accessible. With the app, students can enroll in subjects at other schools. This ensures that less popular subjects, such as philosophy, have enough students in the classroom. We’re still working for this client today."

Broad interest

Bronsveld completed his bachelor's degrees in mathematics, computer science, and philosophy at Radboud University within 3.5 years—two of them with honors: "I’ve always had broad interests. That’s why I deliberately chose Radboud University, as it offers a wide range of disciplines. Mathematics and computer science are theoretical, just like philosophy, but they approach problems differently."

Radboud AI Event

Bronscode’s clients are spread across the Netherlands, from Delft to Eindhoven and even just a few doors down from their office. "In addition to education and finance, we focus on high-tech interfacing. Many companies have powerful models, but due to outdated software and a lack of user-friendly interfaces, their models are underutilized. Especially when internal expertise in web development is missing, it can be difficult to make these models widely accessible—particularly for non-technical users. We help companies by developing custom high-tech interfaces that enhance the usability of their existing models."

Bronsveld will be present at the start-up marketplace during the Radboud AI Event. What does he hope to gain from it? "I’m going to make full use of the opportunity to network, especially in the field of high-tech interfacing. There are also some AI researchers attending with whom I’ve had initial discussions about potential collaborations. It’ll be great to catch up with them during the event. Moreover, our office is located in the Science Park, close to Radboud University. When I hire people, they’ve often just graduated from Radboud University. Students are always welcome to intern with us."
