He received the Simone Weil Award for writing his intellectual biography of Titus Brandsma, Denker voor Gods aangezicht (2024). In a brief laudatio, Prof Dr Wim van de Donk praised, among other things, Titus Brandsma's accessible writing style, historical soundness and balanced attention to his academic and social work, as well as its reception.
The announcement and presentation took place during the Porticus Conference on Catholic Intellectual Tradition on 8 March 2025 in Driebergen-Zeist. Other laureates were Michel Bronzwaer for his dissertation on Chiara Lubich, and the Zero Poverty Lab at Tilburg University.
