Jelle Rozendaal and Milan van de Coolwijk appointed as student assessors

In the academic year 2023-2024, the faculty board will be reinforced with two student assessors: Jelle Rozendaal and Milan van de Coolwijk.

Jelle Rozendaal

Would you like to introduce yourself?

Hello! I am Jelle Rozendaal, a third-year bachelor student in Molecular Life Sciences. This year, I will be a student assessor along with Milan van de Coolwijk at the Faculty of Science. I am 21 years old, and in my free time, I enjoy working out in the gym and spending time with friends. I also like to play video games during my free time. Last year, I held a board position at the student association Leonardo da Vinci.

What does the role of a student assessor entail?

The student assessor serves as the liaison between the students at FNWI and the faculty board. As a student assessor, you participate in faculty board meetings and collaborate with other faculty bodies. This way, we can ensure that the student voice is heard within the faculty.

Why did you want to become a student assessor?

There are several reasons for me to want to become a student assessor. I see the role of assessor as an opportunity for personal growth and learning. I also hope to make a positive impact on the educational environment.

What do you hope to achieve this year as a student assessor?

I hope to, together with Milan, make a significant contribution to improving the student experience. Some of the areas I would like to focus on include reducing academic pressure and creating more study spaces.

How can students get in touch with you?

Students can reach Milan and me in various ways. Feel free to approach us if you see us in the Huygens Building. The best way to contact us is by sending an email to assessor [at] science.ru.nl (assessor[at]science[dot]ru[dot]nl). Alternatively, you can also find us in the boardrooms, in wing 5 of the Huygens Building.

Milan van de Coolwijk

Would you like to introduce yourself?

I am Milan van de Coolwijk. I am in the third year of my Bachelor's in Science. This year, along with Jelle, I am student assessor at the Faculty of Science. In my free time, I really enjoy cycling, I like swimming, and I also love to have a drink with friends.

What do you hope to achieve this year as a student assessor?

I would like all students to know where they can bring their ideas for our faculty and not hesitate to come to us with questions. I hope to be the link between the faculty board and the students, so that the student's voice is genuinely heard.

My goal is primarily to find out what concerns students and therefore I do not have specific ideas that I want to implement. However, I do consider it especially important to examine the space provided to the students, such as the library and other study areas.

Why did you want to become a student assessor?

I wanted to become an assessor because, after my term on the board at Leonardo da Vinci, I was looking for an additional challenge. When I heard that they were still looking for an assessor and that it was possible to do this together with Jelle, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to me. I also find it valuable to learn how governance works.

How can students reach you?

You can often find me in the student cafeterias or in the boardroom, so feel free to come by and approach me if you have ideas or questions. Additionally, you can also send an email to assessor [at] science.ru.nl (assessor[at]science[dot]ru[dot]nl)
