What is a Bioblitz?
A Bioblitz is an exciting race against the clock: finding as many different species as possible – from mammals and plants to insects, frogs, mosses and fungi – within a defined area and time frame. Radboud University is taking part for the third time this year, alongside no fewer than 52 other Dutch educational institutions. Together, we are getting to know nature in an accessible way and collecting valuable scientific data on biodiversity on our own campuses.
How do you take part?
It’s easier than you think. You don’t need to be an expert on nature, as we’re using the Obsidentify app, which automatically identifies species based on your photos. The count is tracked via the Waarneming.nl platform. Every sighting entered on Waarneming.nl between 30 April and 2 July, within the boundaries of the campus, automatically counts towards the final result.
