The Faculty Board encourages students and staff to participate in the national demonstration against education budget cuts on November 14. The same applies to the preparation meeting by WOinActie, which will be held on our campus on Thursday, October 31, from 5 to 6.30 p.m.
Staff members who wish to attend the national demonstration will be given the opportunity to do so in consultation with their supervisor. Special leave may be granted through the BASS registration system. Lecturers who participate are responsible for ensuring that students cover all required material within the course duration.
For students, attendance requirements will be lifted, except for obligatory practicals that cannot be rescheduled or postponed.
The nationwide campaign will begin on November 14 in Moreelsepark, Utrecht, and will continue at Domplein. The programme will run from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., including speeches and musical performances. You can register via the demonstration’s campaign page. Please note that staff and students are responsible for travelling to Utrecht, and travel expenses will not be compensated. Members of the FNV and AOb unions may apply for a free train ticket.
Education
Due to participation in the demonstration, a large part of teaching may be unable to occur. The Faculty Board understands that by doing so, we are appealing to the flexibility of our colleagues and that this may involve an additional workload. We hope for your understanding. If you experience any problems, you can contact your programme director or the faculty board to discuss possible solutions.
