KHMW Young Talent Prizes for ten Radboud Students

Ten students from Radboud University received a Young Talent Prize from the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) on 25 November 2024. The Young Talent Prizes are awarded annually to promote scientific education in technical and exact sciences.

Within the Young Talent Prizes, there are two categories:

KHMW Afstudeerprijzen

These prizes recognise exceptional academic achievements (master’s thesis or research report) by students graduating in the current academic year (2023/2024) from a Dutch institution for scientific education.

  • Physics: Annique Krieg (1st prize, 3000), for her thesis ‘Towards a correlated quantum simulator’, supervisor Alex Khajetoorians
  • Computer Science: Wietze Koops (1st prize, 3000), for his thesis ‘A* Algorithms for DEC-POMDPs’, supervisor Sebastian Junges
  • Data Science: Coen Schoof ( 1st prize, 3000), for his thesis ‘EmoBack: Backdoor Attacks Against Speaker Identification Using Emotional Prosody’, supervisor Stjepan Picek
  • Responsible Internet: Kimberley Frings (2nd prize, 1000), for her thesis ‘An Analysis of Third- Party Tracking on Online EU Pharmacies’, supervisor Gunes Acar

KNMW Aanmoedigingsprijzen

These prizes, worth €500 each, are awarded for the best academic results in the first year of study (academic year 2023/2024) at a Dutch institution for scientific education.

  • Physics: Mathijs Rietbergen
  • Chemistry: Joanna Piotrowska
  • Biology: Sarah Kervel
  • Mathematics: Wouter Zandsteeg
  • Computer Science: Tianchen Xu
  • Artificial Intelligence: Ella Kemperman
