It was a downright eye-opener in the course. Lieke Raaijmakers-Potten, Programme Manager for Regional Energy Strategy in North and Central Limburg, discovered that sustainability is mostly a matter of making connections. “You cannot take all the steps you need to take while staying in your own domain; you have to form a wider group,” she explains. For Daan Moerkerk, Sustainability Coordinator at HAN University of Applied Sciences, another element in the course stands out: the contact with other students from different organisations. “This is really great, because other participants have similar jobs and often work on the same topics. That way, you learn from each other and expand your network further.”
About the course
Many organisations face the greatest challenge of our times: how to contribute to keeping the world liveable. This turns out to be much easier said than done. “The scope of the climate crisis can be paralysing,” says Dr Marije Klomp, who is responsible for the course. “In this course, we show that you can really make a difference.” In this Radboud Academy course, you will learn to reflect even better on what sustainability means for you and your organisation, you will explore together what is needed for change to occur, and you will get tools to increase your impact. Based on insights from philosophy, psychology, communication science and business administration, you will craft a good story to tell your colleagues. And that is important, because, as Lieke puts succinctly: “A good story can ultimately contribute to sustainability becoming the norm.”
