Starting on 5 January 2026, Marcel Wintels (62) will be appointed interim Vice President of the Radboud University Executive Board. The Supervisory Board has appointed Wintels following consultation with the Deans and the University Joint Assembly.

Mario van Vliet, Chair of the Supervisory Board: “We are extremely pleased with this appointment. Marcel Wintels is ideally suited to manage the vice president's portfolio. Wintels is an experienced administrator in higher education, who has solid knowledge of financial management, and implementing change and guiding change processes.”

The Supervisory Board has decided to appoint an interim vice president who can start work immediately. This creates room for a thorough process of searching for a permanent vice president.

Marcel Wintels: “It is an honour to dedicate myself to Radboud University, an impressive institution with leading science and education at the highest level. One that is at the centre of society and contributes solutions to the issues and challenges we face as a country and internationally. Although the University is currently facing a financially challenging time, I firmly believe that it has a bright future ahead of it. A bright future I am proud to contribute to building.”

In recent years, Wintels has been active as an interim director, entrepreneur, and supervisor. For example, he was Director of De Baak, an institute for leadership and personal development, and Chair of the Supervisory Board of public broadcaster NTR. Prior to this, he acted as the President of the Executive Board at Fontys University of Applied Sciences and at Arnhem Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences, among others. Marcel Wintels completed a degree in fiscal economics from Arnhem Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences (then HEAO) and a degree in tax law from University of Tilburg.

Incumbent Vice President of the Board Agnes Muskens will remain in position until the end of 2025. In addition to
Marcel Wintels, the Executive Board will consist of President Alexandra van Huffelen and Rector Magnificus José Sanders.
