Meeting on international cooperation ended early

On Monday 7 April, a meeting at Radboud University that was scheduled to last an hour ended after just twenty minutes. On the agenda was an initial recommendation from the advisory committee on international cooperation to suspend ties with two Israeli institutions based on a formulated assessment framework. The Executive Board had invited all students and staff to give their response to that recommendation.

At the start of the meeting, the chairperson made it clear that in the interest of a good discussion, it was necessary to listen to each other, not to interrupt each other, to treat each other with respect and to refrain from using banners. As is customary in our lecture halls. When a few attendees nevertheless produced a banner after the discussion had gotten off to a good start and refused to take it down after repeated requests, the moderator ended the meeting.

Rector Magnificus José Sanders: ‘It is extremely regrettable that the meeting with students and staff came to an early end today. As the Executive Board, we will continue the dialogue with the central participation council as previously announced.

Students and staff had also been invited to share a digital response. This is still possible using this form.
