Following the cancellation of the Utrecht event, WOinAction organised an alternative meeting on our campus. It turns out that there are many students and staff members who are ready to make their voices heard. Among other speakers, President of the Executive Board Daniël Wigboldus also voiced his concerns in a two-part speech in which he highlighted the negative impact of the cuts on education, research, and by extension the future of society. He also advocated for tolerance.
Radboud University wants to give its staff and students as much space as possible to take part in the demonstration on 25 November.
What needs to be considered?
Students will not be required to attend lectures or classes on 25 November, except those responsible for patient care and those taking part in obligatory practicals that cannot be made up for or rescheduled (students should ask their lecturers about this).
- Students who expect to be absent must give prior notification to their department.
- Students are responsible for making up for any missed lessons.
- If staff members wish to attend the demonstration, they must first discuss this with their supervisors. If their supervisor has no weighty arguments against it, the staff member may request special leave for this and subsequently register this (in the BASS registration system).
- Lecturers who join the demonstration must make sure that students are still taught all of the material within the course period.
- Staff members and students are responsible for their own transport to The Hague. Travel expenses will not be covered.
- Lecturer participation in the demonstration may have consequences for teaching on 25 November. As soon as the situation is clear, the faculties will inform their students and staff as necessary.
In Radboud hoodie
Are you joining the protest on 25 November? You can wear your Radboud hoodie or something else in Radboud red. If you do not have a Radboud hoodie (yet), you can buy one at the desk of Radboud Sport & Culture (in the Gymnasion building).
