Cabaret artist Boban Benjamin Braspenning on economic inequality
At the Open House, cabaret artist Boban Benjamin Braspenning will humorously highlight the issue of ‘economic inequality’. Boban won the jury and audience award at the 2021 Groninger Student Cabaret Festival. His debut show, entitled Boompje Beestje, is a musical cabaret show on housing shortages and other economic issues. Boban takes such issues to heart, as apparent from his degrees in Economics and Ethics, internships at Follow the Money and Het Financieele Dagblad, as well as his well-known songs about student debt. Expect some incisive songs performed on the piano and guitar with which Boban will hold up a mirror to the audience.
Sports journalist Barbara Barend on inclusivity
Sports journalist Barbara Barend will zoom in on ‘inclusivity.’ Having dreamt for years of a career as a top-level athlete herself, Barbara ultimately opted for a career in journalism, presenting the children's TV programme Zappsport and the football debate programme Voetbal Inside. Barbara is intelligent, knows what she is talking about, and claims her place in the male-dominated world of football. During the Open House, she will zoom in on chasing your dreams and working as a woman in a male-dominated world.
Short lectures, mini-workshops, exhibition stands and fun activities for children
During the Open House, there will be several short lectures, mini-workshops and games on themes like ‘Sustainable democracy’, ‘Economics and the brain’, ‘Serious games: climate transition’, ‘Keep it cool: heat adaptation in the city’ and ‘Sustainable careers for all’. There will also be exhibition stands on the Faculty’s history, teaching and research. We will also have some activities for children, in the form of an escape room puzzle tour, and a bouncy castle for the little ones. Snacks and drinks will be available for everyone free of charge.
