“It is important that schools make their own decisions as to implementing AI in order to improve their students’ learning and support teachers’ educating,” Inge says in the conversation with presenter Rob Neutelings. It starts with taking stock of the questions that the educational institutions have. In the academic year of 2023-2024, almost fifty questions were collected from the field of education. These led to the launch of ten co-creationprojects. In these projects, researchers, education professionals, and companies work together to create evidence-formed AI solutions. Every academic year, NOLAI uses the same working method; in the upcoming academic year, seven more projects will be launched. The co-creation teams also reflect on public values such as privacy and ethics. “We have to think critically about how we use these tools in the classroom, how they relate to the teachers’ role, and how to combine them with other approaches.”
