Only guide dogs allowed in buildings Faculty of Science

From 1 December 2023 onwards, dogs are no longer welcome in spaces owned by the Faculty of Science in the building Huygens, Mercator 1, Mercator 3, HFML/FELIX, NMR, Proeftuin and Transitorium. Guide dogs are exempt from this rule.

Due to complaints about the rising number of dogs present in the Faculty of Science buildings, the faculty board has decided to only allow guide dogs in the buildings used by the faculty, ahead of new rules that will apply to the entire Radboud University campus.

Guide dogs are professionally trained dogs that help people with a disability, giving them more freedom and independence. Guide dogs that are working can be recognised by a vest. The vest consists of a harness and a handle and is often marked with the text "do not pet" or "do not distract" (in Dutch: niet aaien, or niet afleiden) and the logo of the guide dog school.

To allow colleagues with non-guide dogs to find a solution now that they can no longer bring their dog to work, the ban does not start immediately, but from 1 December 2023 onwards.
