Each year, NOLAI develops new co-creation projects to design prototypes of responsible educational AI within a three-year period. Each project begins with a question from a school. From there, partners from academia and industry are invited to collaborate with the school through the concept, development, and validation phases.
Current challenge at school
At Twickel College Hengelo, teachers are under constant time pressure to create high-quality exam questions that meet Cito and SLO standards. The four-eyes review process is labor-intensive and error-prone, and existing practice resources are quickly exhausted. Teachers need support to save time, ensure the quality of questions, and align assessments with learning objectives. This way, students can benefit from fair and effective testing experiences.
The practical question
How can we use AI to automatically generate valid, reliable, and clear exam questions for final-year students — supporting teachers in test development while ensuring that students receive fair, understandable, and substantively accurate exams? Could this also create opportunities for practicing with high-quality test questions?
Development opportunity for EdTech companies
Which EdTech company will seize this opportunity and collaborate with the school and Stichting Citolab to develop a prototype that enables teachers to generate items for (practice) tests in STEM subjects? The solution should focus on AI-based item construction. Together with the school and Citolab, you’ll form a project team.
Is your company a match?
We’d love to receive more information via the form below. A selection of companies will be invited for follow-up conversations in week 48. A strong match with the school and involved researchers is key. Each selection process is tailored, but we do look for several basic criteria:
- Experience collaborating with primary or secondary education
- Experience collaborating with academic researchers
- Relevant subject-matter expertise
- Motivation to participate in the project
Please describe these criteria as clearly as possible in the form.
What to expect
In week 48, you’ll be notified whether your company has been selected for a follow-up conversation. If selected, you’ll meet with a co-creation manager and an education professional from Twickel College to explore a potential partnership within a co-creation project.
