Peter Jonker appointed Deputy Scientific Director of NOVA

The Netherland Research School for Astronomy NOVA has appointed Peter Jonker as Deputy Scientific Director. Jonker is professor of Observational High Energy Physics at Radboud University and member of the board of the Isaac Newton Group telescopes. Jonker has extensive experience in leadership roles and was recently awarded an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council to conduct research on fast X-ray flashes. Jonker: “as Deputy Scientific Director I would like to commit myself to facilitating further cooperation among NOVA astronomers and also between astronomers and adjacent fields.“

Nelemans

Jonker replaces Gijs Nelemans, also professor at Radboud University’s Department of Astronomy, who has become member of the the Permanent Committee for Large-scale Scientific Infrastructure at NWO in 2023.
