Physician Parweez Koehestanie alumnus of the year
Physician and gastrointestinal, liver, and bowel specialist Parweez Koehestanie may call himself alumnus of the year! At the gala on Friday 30 September, Parweez was honoured in the full spotlight as the winner of the Alumni Award. In the public vote he scored 36% of more than 2,000 votes. This makes him the undisputed winner.
In addition, Koehestanie is co-founder of 2 foundations: Medical Committee Afghanistan Netherlands (MCAN), which works on rebuilding medical education in Afghanistan and Paymaan, which focuses on the education of orphans and street children in Afghanistan. He remains committed to his homeland to give people a chance at the future that was so difficult for him to achieve. After all, Koehestanie fled Kabul alone at the age of 17.
The announcement of the winner took place on 30 September, at the Alumni Gala in de Vereeniging. Over 120 guests enjoyed the gala dinner there in the beautiful ambience of the main hall. More than 300 partygoers then enjoyed a smashing party with Ronnie Ruysdael, among others.
The Alumni Award
Radboud University is proud of its alumni. Some work in the spotlights, others do wonderful work in the background. To honor them, we've set up the Radboud Alumni Award. The award is intended for alumni who have achieved something special in their field, have made progress, are of social significance and dare to step off the beaten track. They are a source of inspiration and contribute to a healthy and free world with equal opportunities for all.
