Following an EO documentary, Het verraad van Hilversum (translated: 'The betrayal of Hilversum'), which was released in August 2024, Pointer's editors decided to take a closer look at this black chapter in their own broadcasting company's history. They obtained permission from the KRO-NCRV management to consult the hundreds of files stored in the KDC archive depot, they spoke to relatives of the dismissed employees and various historians. Slowly a picture emerged of what seems to have taken place in the ranks of the KRO radio orchestra during the 1930s.
This TV show was recorded in the last couple of weeks in the Heritage Collections Reading Room and in the KDC archive depot. Several staff members contributed to the making of this beautiful but poignant programme, including archivist Jos Kersbergen who has a guest role in the episode.
