René Maatman joined the Faculty of Law and the Radboud Business Law Institute (OO&R) in 2005 as professor of Asset Management and Pension Issues. He also studied law from 1979 to 1984 at what was then the Catholic University of Nijmegen and defended his thesis Dutch Pension Funds: Fiduciary Duties and Investing in 2004 in Nijmegen. He was an authority in the field of pension law and held several high-profile positions. For example, he was a member of the Capital Markets Committee of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets.
Maatman had been ill for some time. Nevertheless, his passing comes as a huge blow to the law faculty and the OO&R. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
