Proposed decision to stop funding Radboud Honours Academy

As a result of nationwide budget cuts affecting universities, Radboud University is facing drastic cutbacks and is working on measures to achieve savings. The Executive Board, the directors of the units and the faculty boards are currently discussing the measures to be taken. Savings will be implemented as cautiously and in as controlled a manner as possible. One of the ideas being considered is to (partially) stop funding the Radboud Honours Academy. This information was inadvertently released prematurely this week.

The (partial) termination of funding for the Radboud Honours Academy is a proposed decision by the Executive Board that has not yet been finalised. The Executive Board deeply regrets that this information has become public at this stage, particularly for the twelve employees who understandably have concerns and questions, as well as for other employees who are committed to educational innovation and the steps that Radboud University intends to take in this area in the coming years.

The savings that the proposed decision would result in, if fully implemented, amount to 2.3 million euros per year. As soon as a decision has been made on these cuts and other proposals, we will first consult with the colleagues concerned to jointly determine the appropriate next steps.
